The Sacrifice

In a dream I saw the halls of Apollo’s temple,
All around I heard the dark grumbling of thunder;
I saw in that first instant a disturbing,
Broken, final glimpse of the crashing sun.

The shadows poured down on me
From a steep cliff, falling like heavy funeral cloth;
The storm shoveled the clods of clouds,
As if it wanted to plug a tomb.

I understood God’s grief and wrath,
And I left the pathway to his holy fount,
Scooped up the primal ember
From out of the darkness.

And raised the bowl up to his throne:
A flame, great Father, your son;
There are so few, that know how to sacrifice!

Living intensely means to drain out every drop of vitality during the day and recharge at night while we are sleeping.

This is like a sponge that soaks up water and then releases it when it is squeezed. At first we are like dirty sponges that are so clogged with toxins and debris that we can’t hold much water. Maybe we can only contain 5% of our true potential.

Through repeated emptying and absorbing these toxins and debris are flushed out and we can hold more energy. This is the function of our physical bodies. Our physical bodies can both generate energy and store it. Even more exciting is when we reach the point of purity where we can absorb energy from the universe and from our environment!

This happens when we have worked with a particular energy long enough to master it. When we have created a permanent astral body out of that energy and it will sustain itself by drawing upon its own resources.

Having the solitude and safe harbor to regenerate is just as important as the need to completely empty ourselves.

We need to protect ourselves from people and events that drain our energy, at least until we are recharged again. The cycle of ebb and flow is natural and found in nature as well as in magical practices.

When we are fully charged we focus that energy on our desired project or goal and release it..If we are strong enough the desired outcome will manifest. If we are not strong enough we will simply have removed some of the obstacles and thus make it easier for us to progress next time.

Few things can strike fear into the hearts of people like the word chaos. In sword and sorcery fantasies the forces of order are often locked in an eternal battle against the forces of chaos. The hero is a mere pawn that is used by these titanic forces only to be cast aside when no longer needed. At all costs the delicate balance between the two must be kept. That’s how it is in the stories.

Most world religions claim the universe was created out of the void or out of chaos. Many of these religions believe that someday the universe will once more return to the mysterious void from whence it came.

Chaos has been linked in our minds with evil and confusion. To behold the face of chaos is to go insane. It Is ever-changing, constant motion that has no order and is completely random.

At least this is been the case in the past. Today the study of chaos is one of the most exciting areas of science that exists. Chaos theory is at the heart of a new science and a new spirituality. An understanding of some of the basics of this new science is essential before continuing.

Before we confront madness itself, a little disclaimer is in order. I don’t claim to understand chaos or to have any serious degree of sanity, I do however, have quite chaotic thought processes which should count for something. The pondering of imponderables will be kept to an absolute minimum, that is a promise I seriously intend to keep.

Each person has a sphere of influence and needs to learn how to use it. This new series of posts will try to describe how to build win-win situations between the individual and society. Society needs the examples of strong and successful individuals to inspire it in the right direction. Individuals need to see that individual success is possible so that they will be encouraged to reach out for their dreams as well.

Force must be regulated by intellect and ruled by the heart. The intellect without heart is the intellect without a soul! Spiritual subjects must often be taught through allegory and through symbols because of the limitations of language. Society needs to be taught about the still small voice of conscience within their hearts and how to begin trusting it. Only spiritual individuals can lead the way. We need to trust in the goodness of other people and the still small voice of conscience that resides deep within every human heart. The individual needs to go first and then society can follow.

Society is a force and that force must be ruled by the heart, not by the emotions or unfeeling intellect. At the lowest levels people think only about themselves in a material and non-spiritual way. At low levels of government tyrants and governments make slaves of the people. To become free people need to reverse rational atheistic thinking and replace it with organic Gnosticism.

It is possible to turn the aspirations of individuals to the still small voice of conscience and the Christ spirit that resides within every human heart. This will allow a free society of free individuals to flourish and create a golden age of humanity. There is purpose and order in everything that happens and it is possible for humanity to collectively create the world that we want through the creation of win-win situations.

This won’t be easy and with each step forward the resistance and opposition to us will snowball! It is time for each individual to take that first step against that resistance!

Being assertive means to reclaim our own personal power to live as we choose to live! From our mistakes and successes we gradually gain faith in our own ability to meet obstacles and situations creatively. With time and experience we become skilled and resourceful in awkward situations.

Everyone experiences lead feet, a lump in the throat, and being paralyzed with fear at some point in their lives. By being assertive we move past those things with will and determination. At first we are victims, then we learn. When confronted with anger, fear, pain and anguish or when we feel those emotions we need determination and resolve to continue doing those things which we want to do. This means physically going through the unpleasantness, confronting it and reaching the joy and success on the other side.

Being assertive means taking risks, doing new things, and being successful at them. Hard work will earn rewards and in time the struggle and competition can become enjoyable. After many attempts we learn and become more skilled. There is no way to avoid those first baby steps and the discomfort of feeling vulnerable.

When we have a positive and supportive family we can do anything. When our family is negative or abusive we can’t do anything or so it seems. Our closest friends and relatives have tremendous influence on our ability to be assertive. We must have a supportive family even if we need to create one for ourselves. That means finding a group that we feel comfortable in and whose members are all going to help each of us to become more assertive and believe in ourselves.

Together we will push our comfort zones and learn new skills that will help us have a more successful and enjoyable life. Being assertive takes energy. Energy is created by physically doing things. The most powerful form of learning is learning by doing. This new series of posts will share how we can become more assertive.

In reading through Pavel Tsatsouline’s books on flexibility and health I was struck by a powerful integration! He claimed we already have all the muscles we need but we only use 5 or 10% of what is available to us. Does that sound familiar?

He goes on to say the mother that lifts the car to save the life of her baby is not doing it through emotional strength or magical levitation. She is simply using all of her muscle strength. Apparently only 5 or 10% of the muscles we use have nerves firing at any given time. The trick is to get the nerves firing on the other 90 to 95%!

The Russian kettle bell exercises do this through the process of ballistic shock. The entire body absorbs the shock during a kettle bell workout and by spreading the impact throughout the body helps more of the nerves to fire. In my opinion this is why kettle bells are so effective

If we apply the same concept to our mind and thought processes it’s pretty clear that the analogy still holds true. If we want to use more of our mental ability we need to fire those nerves through some form of ballistic shock. Perhaps it might be the exposure to a radical new idea. This shock absorber method is unique in that just a few shocks a day gets better results than a steady grind. The trick is to get more nerves to fire and then let them rest and recuperate till the next time

We can apply this concept to all the energies generated by the physical body. Living intensely means to create spikes or shocks throughout the day with each of the energies. This involves planning and living a balanced life that has a bit of everything in it

What happens is that the physical body becomes filled to overflowing with energy and can no longer contain all the energy. The energy is then released into the astral through one of the bodies energy centers or chakras. We can feel the energy released when it happens

In athletics this is called getting the second wind. But we can experience it with all of the other energies generated by the physical body.

As she takes total control he begins to suspect that she doesn’t love him, that she is just using him to get what she wants. What about those things that he wants? He has to fight these doubts and be patient with her at this time.

All she seems to care about is the creative act of mixing his energies with her own and the child that they are creating! This child might be a physical baby or it might be an astral child. But she is feeding it the splendid creative energy and allowing it to grow inside her.

The entire world spreads out before her. She can carve out of it whatever she wants. She can use him and his energies anyway she desires to achieve her version of their collective dream. There is no mental hesitation or uncertainty. She goes for the achievement of her dream. This is the dream that she has for both of them

I do seem to be at a turning point in writing these posts. I don’t want to repeat myself and I want to remain interesting. I might even need to take a break for a few days. One of the big problems is that I believe things are really very simple and that people make them complicated! I also believe that everybody’s got to find their own path in life. No one should be following my path because that belongs to me and to me alone!

Perhaps the biggest reason is that I’m trying to speak from my heart about things that I feel are head trippy! That’s a combination that just doesn’t work! There are so many things that I could share, but sometimes I think that I’ve shared enough! There are some things better left unsaid.

Some of the material that I’ve been sharing is 20 years old and some of it is from today and yesterday. 20 years ago I thought I had the answers. Today, I know that if I have any answers they are only for me. Over the years I’ve simplified my belief system down to the point where it can be expressed in a simple statement. “All effort is cumulative!” How many ways can I say the same thing? Personal effort will get you where you need to be!

Society is supposed to create a win-win situation for the majority of the population. It is supposed to be supportive and uplifting. What happened? Our society seems like a collection of incurable invalids! There is too much poverty, too much mental and emotional illness and not enough caring! Society has never really given me any support so I’m not very enthusiastic about it. There are times when I feel closer to animals than I do to people.

It wasn’t always this way. Today’s world is very different than the world that I grew up in 60 years ago. We walk past each other today without smiling and we don’t even know the names of our neighbors. I remember when I was young. I used to go visit the neighbors and listen to their stories while I drank coffee and ate cookies. The old people used to love these visits because they were lonely. I loved to hear their stories!

Now I’m an old man and nobody visits me, but I don’t really care! If somebody did come to visit I wouldn’t have any cookies to offer them anyway! Do I go visit others? Not really! Do I want to? Not really! So what’s wrong? Why do I have the attitude that I do?

I’ve wondered about that myself. I’ve also wondered if my reasons would be similar to someone else’s reasons. If I was brutally honest I would have to say that most other people bore me. I don’t have enough in common with them. I’ve worked really hard in my life to cure the emotional wounds that I’ve suffered. I’ve had therapy, gone to support groups, and read tons of books! I don’t like to talk about the cows, hunting, fishing or the football game. So I guess I’m an oddball.

I’ve also looked deep in my heart and tried to be as honest as possible. I’ve caught myself lying to myself at times. But over the years I think I’ve become healthier and healthier. The things that I write are reflections of what my heart has told me. They are not politically correct. I am not politically correct. And you know what? I like it that way! My attitude is coming through tonight!

Orchids

When the Devil
was a woman
She was Lilith
Her black hair coiled
In heavy knots
Surrounding her head
Like a Botticelli ruff
When she smiled tiredly
At the gold bands
And colored stones
On all of her narrow fingers
When she read Villiers
And loved Huysmans
When she understood
Maeterlinks silence
And her soul bathed
In the colors
Of Gabriel d’Annunzlo
She once laughed
And when the Princess
Laughed a little serpent
Sprang out of her mouth
This most beautiful Devil
Stroked the serpent
This queen stroked the serpent
With her be-ringed fingers
So that it turned, hissed,
Hissed, hissed
And sprayed venom
Lilith collected the drops
And sprinkled them
Over her heavy copper vase
Of moist earth,
Black, moist earth
Her vast hands moved lightly
All around the
Heavy copper vase
Caressing it
Softly her pale lips sang
Her old spell
Her spell rang
Like a child’s rhyme
Soft and languid,
Languid like the kisses
From her mouth
The moist earth drank
And life arose in the vase
Enticed by her languid kisses
Enticed by her soft sounds
And slowly out
Of the black earth crept
Orchids-
In front of the favorite
Mirroring her
Pale features
Surrounded with
Botticelli vipers
Creeping sideways
Out of the copper vase
Orchids-
Devil’s flowers
Those of the old earth
That through Lilith’s spell
And specially prepared
Serpent’s venom
Had been brought
Into the light,
Orchids-
Devil’s flowers
