We can argue until doomsday about what happens when we die and it will not change the way things really are. Just because we believe in heaven or hell doesn’t mean they really exist. We have no way of knowing until we experience it for ourselves. If we have a personal relationship with God it doesn’t matter what happens after we die.

There is evidence that self awareness requires both a soul body and a physical body. This implies that the soul must reincarnate into a new physical human body after the old one dies.

As already stated, there is no proof for this and belief or disbelief will not change the way things really are. There are several advantages to accepting this concept however.

Immediately we are confronted by the need to act responsibly. Heaven or hell are seen as states of mind and not as physical realities. They are mental and emotional realities.

We cannot escape our problems through suicide because we will just find ourselves back in another body facing the same or similar problems over and over again until we resolve them.

We can create heaven on earth for ourselves and for our fellow human beings.

The devil is seen as a scapegoat we use to avoid responsibility for our own actions. The devil made me do it! Becomes one of the lamest excuses imaginable.

Have you ever noticed that some of the great thinkers are given incredible insight that is so simple and self-evident that everyone understands it and agrees with it? But then what the same great thinkers do, is build a system or philosophy around that simplicity and make it more complex and hard to understand. They extend it out to where it is no longer self-evident or believable. For example take what Sigmund Freud did with his system of free association psychotherapy by taking a simple concept and expanding it out into nonsense.

It’s not only the great thinkers that do this, but the ones that come after them and rewrite the original works in a way that distorts the original intent and meaning. Over and over I’ve seen spiritual, philosophical, or psychological organizations return back to original source documents because only the originator of that system was tapping into Source. Only the original source documents contain the force and energy that is required.

What I’ve done or tried to do is collect nuggets of wisdom from various sources and leave them the way they are. I’m not really trying to build complex systems or philosophies out of them. I think that these nuggets of wisdom speak for themselves and as a collection form a coherent unity on their own.

Today were going to practice beginning and ending conversations. I’m going to give some examples about situations you might find yourself in and I want you to think about the best way to respond. Some of these are beginning conversations with somebody and ways to do it. Others are examples where you may be trapped in a conversation that you want out of. How do you escape?

So first we’ll try something obvious:

Hello my name is Joe

Hello, may I help you?

This is pretty easy and straightforward but how would you end this conversation?

I would really like to hear more later when I have more time.

Can we talk again sometime?

Think about situations like these and ways that you could respond both to begin the conversation and to get out of it. The more tricks you have up your sleeve the more flexible your choices are and the less stress you experience. Let’s try some more. This time let’s try to force a conversation or avoid a conversation.

Excuse me, I need to talk to you for a minute.

Hey you in the red shirt.

I don’t have time right now.

I’m busy right now, perhaps we can talk about this later.

You’re probably getting the idea by now. Let’s try changing the subject or returning to the subject.

Don’t you have a car like that one?

But what about the thing that happened yesterday?

I don’t see what this has to do with what we are talking about.

Weren’t we talking about yesterday?

Again come up with some of your own examples and solutions so that you have them ready when you need them. Now we can practice interrupting the conversation and what happens when we are interrupted.

Excuse me, I have a 2 o’clock appointment.

I’ve got to go to the bathroom.

Let me finish what I’m trying to say first.

This will only take a minute.

I’m hoping that you recognize some of the situations and also recognize how you’ve been trapped within situations like these. What we’re doing now is deliberately creating assertive ways to make a conversation go the way that we want it to go. This one is actually more difficult than it seems. Let’s try expressing joy or how to deal with someone else that is expressing joy.

I’m so happy I could scream!

We could have so much fun!

Let’s do it!

You look really great today!

Emotions are always tough, especially when someone else is expressing emotions to you and you don’t know the appropriate response. Let’s try expressing sadness and ways to deal with sadness.

My car just broke down and I don’t know how to get home.

I just can’t seem to stop crying.

Here’s a Kleenex.

Do you have anyone to talk to?

This last one is maybe the most difficult of all and that is expressing anger and dealing with someone else’s anger. So let’s give these a shot.

I’m warning you!

I’ve about had it with the people around here.

What are you so mad about?

Did I do something to offend you?

These are all examples of situations that might be uncomfortable and suggestions on ways to creatively deal with the situations. Come up with other situations on your own and solutions on your own. The time spent will be well worth it and what you will learn will help you to be more assertive!

Iris

Morning mist, thin morning mist,
Lies suspended all around,
Veils the early scarce awoken sun.
Yet it has a moist fragrance,
That’s when the wanderer
Strides firmly with light feet,
When the young lad sets off eagerly
Through the mist into the world
When he walks vigorously through
The wet meadows,
Further,
Walks further,
With light steps.
The fiery blue Iris is eager as well,
Lonely, taciturn
Throughout the moist
Morning mist,
They open eagerly as well
Throughout the wet
Meadows ――
Ask the wanderer where he is walking,
Just ask him why he wanders alone ―
He will silently shrug his shoulders
And lightly walk
Further,
Walk further.
― This eagerness is without reason,
Purposeless, aimless,
Without end:
It is only a movement, a pull, a walking
Through the moist
Morning mist
And the wet
Meadows ――
In the distance you can still hear
The light steps of the wanderer.
In the distance you can still see
The gleam of the opening Iris ――
Do you know the
Eagerness of the wanderer
There in the mist?
Do you know the eagerness
Of the fiery blue
Iris?
Oh, you know it:
It is in you, in you!

Taking risks happens at many levels. It means going outside of what is safe and exposing ourselves to something strange and unfamiliar. Most of the time we don’t do this of our own free will. Life has a way of forcing us into new and difficult situations. Once we are in those situations we try to find our center and stabilize so we are not in crisis.

When we first tap into the creative power and spiritual energy it does the best it can but is not able to alter physical events. This first contact with the master within involves abstract spiritual energy and in times of peace and relaxation offers us a feeling of peace and love. It also comforts us in our time of need.

This is where we find calmness and center ourselves. In times of crisis such as physical abuse, rape, robbery, or accident this same contact takes our mind and awareness away from our physical body as an act of mercy and it seems that what is happening to our physical body is happening to someone else, to a stranger and not to us.

Our awareness retreats far back into a safe place provided by the master within. We are physically passive and defenseless; we are a victim and can only watch helplessly at things we can do nothing about. Later as we tap into concrete spiritual energy and experience intuitive illuminations and hunches we can gain insights on the best way to tackle problems or situations. This is a type of intuitive knowing that comes later.

Our culture has chosen to give importance to the illumination aspect and minimize or ignore the victim aspect of these first contacts with the inner creative power. The important point is we all start with a zero balance of this creative power and as we reach in and tap our own source we accumulate a reserve. We accumulate more of this creative power by successfully confronting obstacles and by spiritual disciplines such as meditation. Spiritual energy is that level of awareness where everything works and the world is all right. It is where we feel in control of our lives at the highest level. The Rosicrucians called this awareness the master within.

The master within speaks to us through the still small voice of our conscience if we will listen to it and trust it. The more we listen to it, the more it will speak. The more we trust it, the more it can be trusted.

When we refuse to listen to the voice of our conscience it will quit trying to contact us.

This is a surprising insight into chaos theory that most people don’t consider. Chaos theory involves infinite non repeating patterns. God and Goddess are infinite non repeating patterns that are beyond human comprehension.

Any supreme being is by definition infinite and in the truest sense unknowable. It is a waste of time and energy to pursue infinite regression type questions such as the nature of God and Goddess.

Theological debates such as how many angels can fit on the end of a pin have been around for centuries. They effectively render a person harmless and passive while allowing the cynics positions of advantage throughout society.

If a personal relationship with God or Goddess is desired it will be found through prayer and meditation and not through inspired writings, doctrines, or organized religious movements. God or goddess will speak through our hearts and through our conscience if we will only listen.

Spiritual evolution occurs from within and not through external authorities! No good can come out of infinite regression questions other than the recognition to stop asking these types of questions.

Humanity only advances one step at a time. It is limited by how far the lower masses can rise. We are becoming more free all the time and life today has much more to offer the common person then life 200 years ago. Even though it sometimes doesn’t seem that way. Wise and true thoughts can move the lower masses to action. We need to help each other advance because we all belong to the same human race. We may be individuals, but individuals help other individuals! We need to be tolerant of other faiths and nationalities as well as gender, sexual orientation and physical characteristics. We are each unique and that’s a good thing! Win-win situations are possible!

Public opinion is an immense force that can be used for us or against us. In today’s society public opinion is used against the individual and against spirituality. Public opinion is used against the voice of conscience and the Christ spirit that dwells within each human heart. It doesn’t need to be that way! Religion and philosophy are simply disputes over the exact meanings of words and the limitations of language. The heart speaks a common tongue that all people understand. Everyone has the ability to understand the voice of conscience and the Christ Spirit within the human heart. Social injustice will eventually cause everyone to suffer.

We need to take a hard look at the dysfunctional and harmful things modern society supports and enables! Idealistic social theories do not dramatically improve individual lives. Social theories are mental constructs and mental projections. Physical life is organic with nothing mental about it at all! Let’s deal with physical realities, not theoretical ones!

Organic Gnosticism teaches that there is a deep wisdom in nature. One of these things is a sense of timing. There is a right time for things and a wrong time. It is important to celebrate the solar year and the cycles of nature when they are properly understood. This can work to our advantage. The wisdom hidden within nature represents the evolution of life over millennia. The wisdom hidden within our DNA is an untapped potential that will change our entire world! In nature all things are connected and there is a circle of life that must be respected. We need to learn respect for that circle of life! We need to understand how all things are connected!

Verb matching is something that professionals do when they really want to connect with other people. Everyone is a little bit different, but most people fall into three different categories, visual, auditory or kinesthetic. What this means is that these three groups of people process information in their brains differently and they do this by using different verbs. As I describe some of these examples you will immediately be reminded of how common these are. The trick is to find out which ones you use and which ones other people use and gain the ability to use all three to become better at communicating with other people.

The visual person uses visual verbs:

I see what you mean!

That is not very clear to me at all.

I see what you’re saying!

I got so angry that I saw a red!

You can probably come up with several more examples, but you get the general idea. These people generally use visual verbs because their minds process information in a visual way. When you use visual verbs while communicating with these people they will feel a lot more comfortable and feel the communication more deeply.

The auditory person uses auditory verbs:

That rings a bell.

I hear what you’re saying!

That doesn’t sound right to me.

You’ve got to tell that person what you really think!

Again, you can probably come up with many more examples of auditory verbs that some people use. These people process information in an auditory way and they pay attention to auditory things as opposed to visual things. We’ll talk more about this in a little bit.

The kinesthetic person feels things within their body:

That doesn’t feel right to me.

I can’t get a grip on it!

Reach out and touch someone!

That was a pretty rocky start.

Again, you can probably come up with examples that are much better than the ones that I came up with. But the idea is the same, these people process information in a kinesthetic fashion.

The problem comes in when a person that processes information one way tries to communicate with a person who processes things another way and this can create confusion and distrust between two people.

Let’s say that a visually oriented woman is married to an auditory oriented man. Because she is visually oriented, she likes to see the proof of his love in a visual way. She likes to see him do things for her. He is an auditory person so words are very important to him and every day he tells her just how much he loves her. But because she is visual she doesn’t recognize the importance of him saying how much he loves her. She wants him to show her how much he loves her. This creates tension and misunderstanding between the two people that doesn’t really need to be there if it was understood.

What if one of them was kinesthetic? They would like to hug and touch. Hugging and touching is one of the most important ways that they know of to share their feelings with another person. But if their partner is not kinesthetic they don’t understand the importance of touch or feeling and make seem cold and distant. They might not like being touched all the time!

When you understand the verbs that you use and have the ability to use all three comfortably your ability to communicate grows tremendously and people feel more comfortable around you. They feel that you really understand them. Then the quality of your personal communications goes much higher and is better receieved.
